Right after I moved here in 1999, I realized that San Diego has more than it's share of gifted musicians. Today I consider myself very lucky to be making music with many of them. Since my family and I have decided to stay here for the long-term, I would like to do my part to help make San Diego one of the best places in the world to work as a musician. Of course I can't do this alone.
Musicians are an independent lot to say the least. Most of us have little tolerance for any type of group activity other than making music. With this in mind, I founded Essential San Diego Records back in January 2002. My goal was to create a simple and fair business plan which would work without conferences, committees, dues, leaders, followers, by-laws, politics, and most of all, lawyers.
It's been two years since I started this project, and I'm happy to say that it has worked even better than I expected. Everyone was very cooperative and supportive, and the CDs are selling very well in quite a few stores all over town. check out the Dealers page to find out where.
Special thanks goes out to our fantastic community radio station, KSDS 88.3, for their support of this project. They are by far the largest buyer of the CDs, which they used for promotion during their 2003 Spring membership drive.
Look for new CDs soon including Essential San Diego Latin scheduled for release on November 10th, 2003.
Feel free to email me with your thoughts and thank you for listening.
Sincerely,
Neal Wauchope
